You'll provide personalized wardrobe services to empower clients with the confidence and self-esteem they need to succeed—all from our inspiring Wardrobe Center located in the Career Success Center in Santa Ana.

What You'll Do:

Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment for clients.

Review upcoming appointments and prepare clothing selections by size and style.

Assist with merchandising, seasonal updates, and inventory tasks to keep the Wardrobe Center fresh and functional.

As a Donation Center Volunteer, you will be assisting in the heart of Working Wardrobes. There are two primary roles that our volunteers typically assume while helping out here: Donor Engagement & Quality Control.

What you will be doing: 

Donor Engagement

You will be the first point of contact to incoming donors while offering a concierge-like service as they pull up with their donations. Your friendly smile and engaging disposition will welcome our donors while offering assistance with unloading their donations. This role takes place in the carport and donation center lobby. Tasks include:

Accepting clothes and accessories from donors at the front of the warehouse. Sorting clothing and changing out hangers. Administering tax receipt forms. Sharing information about our programs and retail stores.

Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 10 lbs and twist/bend at waist level required. Some comfortability speaking with the public and fluent English is recommended for this role.

Quality Control

You will be working to ensure that donations meet our high standards so that we can provide the best quality for our clients and retail stores. This role takes place inside the warehouse. Tasks include:

Ensuring clothes are on the appropriate hangers. Inspecting clothing and accessories to ensure that they meet quality control standards. Categorizing items for distribution. Inventory special projects.

Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 10 lbs and twist/bend at waist level required. Ability to work independently and in small groups is recommended for this role.

 

We welcome minors (14 years and older) with a supervising adult and 16 years or older individually with legal guardian consent.

Safety Measures: Masks are optional. Gloves are recommended while handling donations and will be provided. Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 10 lbs and twist/bend at waist level required.

During this event, volunteer Personal Stylists will be paired with a student and guide them through a pop-up wardrobing experience using clothing brought and set up by the Working Wardrobes team. Stylists help students select pieces that reflect professionalism, dignity, and personal style—creating a moment of confidence and possibility.

This is a powerful and rewarding experience for volunteers who want to make a direct impact.

Working Wardrobes has been invited by Affirmative Athletics to provide our signature Wardrobing Experience for a special cohort of high school–aged students at a local juvenile detention center. This meaningful opportunity allows volunteers to help young people prepare for future opportunities by building confidence through professional clothing and one-on-one encouragement.

During this event, volunteer Personal Stylists will be paired with a student and guide them through a pop-up wardrobing experience using clothing brought and set up by the Working Wardrobes team. Stylists help students select pieces that reflect professionalism, dignity, and personal style—creating a moment of confidence and possibility.

This is a powerful and rewarding experience for volunteers who want to make a direct impact.

• All volunteers must complete a background screening conducted by the detention center

Working Wardrobes’ annual Power Up for Success event is in collaboration with the Family Member Employee Assistance Program (FMEAP), hosting a MilSpouse Career & Hiring Symposium for 60–75 military spouses at Camp Pendleton.

We are seeking 30 volunteer Personal Stylists to help participants look and feel their best through our signature Wardrobe Experience. Volunteers will support clients with professional styling, outfit selection, and overall encouragement as they prepare for career opportunities.

This is an Interest Only posting. By signing up, you’re letting us know you’d like to be considered. Final assignments, roles, and shifts will be shared closer to the event.

Volunteer Roles Needed:

Personal Stylists (primary need)

Female volunteers preferred, as the majority of participants are expected to be women.

The Working Wardrobes Retail Stores are staffed by dedicated, enthusiastic, fun-loving retail volunteers with a strong sense of style and a desire to give back to their community. $0.87 of every dollar in sales benefits Working Wardrobes programs and services!

Responsibilities:

Greeting customers in a timely, professional, and engaging manner. Performing daily store operation tasks such as stocking, re-merchandising, assisting with display arrangements, adjusting price markdowns, and light cleaning. Engaging cooperatively with retail staff to create a welcoming and pleasant customer service experience.

Qualifications:

Ability to stand for periods of time. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 15lbs. Possess a friendly and helpful attitude. Possess communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact and engage with retail staff and customers. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Customer service experience and knowledge/enthusiasm about fashion are a PLUS!

Time Commitment:

1-3 days/week; 3 hrs/day. Tuesday – Saturday; mid-day availability. (Stores currently open 11am-6pm)
